The junior tied for the national lead with 15 sacks
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College junior defensive end Harold Landry was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. The North Carolina native earned his second ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week honor this season after his record-setting performance last Saturday. Both of his weekly ACC honors in 2016 followed big performances against opponents from his home state – at NC State on Oct. 29 and following the Nov. 26 game at Wake Forest.
Landry was all over the field in BC's 17-14 win at Wake Forest to secure bowl-eligibility for the Eagles. He recorded seven tackles, 4.5 tackles-for-loss and tied a career best with three sacks as BC held the host Demon Deacons to 287 yards of total offense.
He became Boston College's all-time single-season leader in sacks (15) in the victory. Landry is tied for the national lead in sacks and leads the country with seven forced fumbles. Landry is tied for fourth in the country with 20.5 tackles-for-loss, the second-best total in Boston College single-season history behind only Mathias Kiwanuka's 25.5 TFLs in 2004.
This is the third time in Landry's career he has collected conference weekly honors. In addition to being named Defensive Lineman of the Week twice in the ACC this season, Landry also earned the accolade after he logged a career-high 11 tackles, including 4.5 tackles for a loss of 27 yards, against then No. 9/6 Florida State in 2015.
Boston College will find out its bowl destination Sunday, Dec. 4. It will be the 24th bowl appearance in school history and the 15th in the last 18 years for the Eagles.
