Four Tally as Eagles Earn Come-from-Behind Win at No. 10 Northeastern
November 26, 2016 | Women's Hockey
Miano nets the game-tying goal before Capizzano added the gamewinner
BOSTON, Mass. – The sixth-ranked Boston College women's hockey team overcame a 2-1 third-period deficit and claimed a 4-2 road win at No. 10 Northeastern on Saturday afternoon.
Boston College (10-3-3, 9-2-1 HEA) took a 1-0 lead into the third period courtesy of Erin Connolly's goal late in the second period. However, Northeastern (10-4-3, 6-2-2 HEA) got goals from McKenna Brand and Paige Savage just 1:37 apart in the third period and took a 2-1 lead 6:00 minutes into the final stanza.
However, Toni Ann Miano notched the game-tying goal just 24 seconds after Savage's go-ahead goal to pull the game level, and Kristyn Capizzano tallied an unassisted shorthanded goal just over two minutes later to re-claim the Eagles' lead over Northeastern. Kali Flanagan added a late insurance goal to secure the win.
BC out-shot Northeastern 35-20, including a 24-9 advantage through two periods. Katie Burt made 18 saves in the win, while Brittany Bulgalski allowed four goals while making 31 saves in the loss.

No. 6 Boston College 4, No. 10 Northeastern 2
Saturday, November 26, 2016
Matthews Arena | Boston, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 2nd, 16:48 | 1-0, BC GOAL – Toni Ann Miano had the puck at the point and threw it down low, where it hit off Ryan Little and fell to the ice. None of the three Northeastern players near the crease cleared it and Erin Connolly crossed in front and poked it past Brittany Bulgalski for the game's first goal.
- 3rd, 4:23 | 1-1, NU GOAL (SHG) – With the Eagles on the power-play, Northeastern got on the puck in the neutral zone and Paige Savage skated into the zone. She centered it where McKenna Brand reached to get a stick on it and was able to redirect it under Katie Burt to even the score.
- 3rd, 6:00 | 1-2, NU GOAL – Northeastern worked the puck low and Matti Hartman pulled the puck out from behind the goal, skated out to the edge of the crease and sent a pass through where Savage potted her own rebound past Burt on the far post to put the Huskies ahead.
- 3rd, 6:24 | 2-2, BC GOAL – Miano came in behind the play to put the rebound in through traffic past Bulgalski, tying the game up just 24 seconds after the Huskies claimed the lead. Makenna Newkirk and Delaney Belinskas picked up assists on the play.
- 3rd, 8:45 | 3-2, BC GOAL (SHG) – Capizzano caused a turnover inside the Northeastern zone, got enough space under heavy pressure from a defender and banked the puck in off Bulgalski to give the Eagles its second and final lead of the game.
- 3rd, 12:36 | NU GOAL WAIVED OFF – Heather Mottau looked to have evened the game up again but her goal was immediately waived off. After review, the call on the ice stood after video replayed showed she kicked the puck in. It was the third goal between the teams that was waived off at Matthews Arena in the teams' two games this week.
- 3rd, 17:37 | 4-2, BC GOAL – Delaney Belinskas broke up a play and fed it out of the zone, but the Northeastern defender fanned on the puck and Kali Flanagan picked up. She broke into the NU defensive zone and beat Bulgalski with a backhander to give the Eagles breathing room as the clock wound down.
