BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior defensive end Harold Landry tied a career-high with three sacks in the game to bring his season total to 15, a new Boston College single-season record. He is fourth in the BC record book with 19.5 career sacks.
- Sophomore tight end Tommy Sweeney caught his second touchdown pass of the season on a 13-yard grab from graduate quarterback Patrick Towles. It was the 10th for Towles this season.
- Senior running back Myles Willis scored on an 11-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to give the Eagles a 10-0 lead. He also forced a fumble on the punt return to give BC the ball on the drive.
- Defensive backs senior John Johnson and sophomore Lukas Denis recorded interceptions in the first and fourth quarters, respectively, to help the Eagles to three total turnovers on the day. It was the sixth of Johnson's career and the first for Denis.
KEY MOMENTS
- Down by three, Towles connected with Sweeney for a 13-yard touchdown pass in the back on the end zone to give the Eagles a lead with eight minutes to play.
- The BC defense stopped Wake Forest on third down at the 29-yard line. Kicker Mike Weaver missed a 40-yard field goal which would have tied the game with just over a minute to play.
- Denis sealed the victory for the Eagles with his first career interception in the fourth quarter.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles struck first on junior Mike Knoll's 22-yard field goal with just over 10 minutes to go in the first quarter. Johnson intercepted Wake quarterback John Wolford's pass as Landry applied the pressure and returned the ball to the 12-yard line.
- With just over a minute play in the first quarter, the Eagles increased the lead to 10. Willis knocked the ball out of punt returner Jessie Bates III's hands and junior Connor Strachan recovered at the Wake Forest 25. Towles connected with sophomore Michael Walker for a 10-yard pass and a first down. Willis scored the first touchdown of the game - and his first offensive score of the season - with an 11-yard run.
- Wake Forest got on the board in the third quarter as Wolford connected with Cam Serigne for a five-yard touchdown pass with just under eight minutes to play in the quarter.
- The Demon Deacons took the lead with just under five minutes to play in the third quarter as Wolford hit Cortez Lewis on a 37-yard touchdown pass to make it 14-10.
- BC retook the lead with 8:03 to play in the game. On an eight-play, 73-yard drive, Towles hit Sweeney for a 13-yard score to put the Eagles back on top. Towles rushed for 13 to start the drive and senior Tyler Rouse followed with a 27-yard gain. On fourth-and-six at the Wake 29-yard line, Towles connected with Sweeney for a 16-yard completion and a first down. On second-and-10, the duo teamed up again for the score.
- On their final attempt of the game, the Deacons were at their own 46 and on fourth-and-one, Denis intercepted Wolford's pass to seal the BC victory.
