Eagles play to a 2-2 tie at No. 10 Northeastern
BOSTON, Mass. – Sixth-ranked Boston College and No. 10 Northeastern played to a 2-2 tie on Sunday afternoon at Matthews Arena. BC twice took one-goal leads, but the Huskies tied it up both times.
Boston College (9-3-3, 8-2-1 HEA) took the game's first lead 4:06 into the contest when Kristyn Capizzano pounced on Caitrin Lonergan's rebound and pushed it into an open net behind Huskies goaltender Brittany Bulgalski. However, just 42 seconds later, Northeastern's McKenna Brand scored the first of her two goals to square the game after her tip down low in front.
After coming out of the first intermission at 1-1, Kenzie Kent's first career shorthanded goal gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead at 6:35 in the second, but 12 minutes later, Brand responded with her own shorthanded goal to one again even up the score.
Northeastern (10-3-3, 6-1-2 HEA) looked to have taken a 3-2 lead 5:03 into the third, but the officials quickly waived off the goal. Katie Burt saved Melissa Haganey's shot but a Northeastern skater crashed into her and Burt had no chance to save the rebound attempt, leading to an immediate call by the refs.
BC out-shot the Huskies 6-2 in the added session, but couldn't crack Northeastern goaltender Brittany Bulgalski, who made 36 saves. Burt stopped 28 shots.

Matthews Arena | Boston, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 1st, 4:06 | 1-0, BC GOAL - Delaney Belinskas dug the puck off the boards in front of the BC bench and played it up to Caitrin Lonergan. Lonergan skated into the zone and got off a shot that clinked off the post, but the rebound popped out to Kristyn Capizzano, who had an open net and the game's first goal.
- 1st, 4:48 | 1-1, NU GOAL – As Northeastern set up in their zone, Heather Mottau's shot from the point was tipped in front by McKenna Brand to quickly even the score just 42 seconds after Capizzano's strike.
- 2nd, 6:35 | 2-1, BC GOAL (SHG) – Kenzie Kent was deep in the Huskies' zone on the forecheck and forced a turnover near the boards. She waited for help as Andie Anastos skated in the zone and played her in the high slot. Anastos took space between the hash marks and returned the puck to Kent down low and she banged it home past Brittany Bulgalski to put the Eagles back on top.
- 2nd, 18:45 | 2-2, NU GOAL (SHG) – With BC on the power-play, Brand blocked Grace Bizal's shot and Maddie Hartman picked up the puck behind the goal and wrapped it around the boards and out of the zone where Brand picked it up in front of the BC bench. After she cut around a defender, Brand broke in for the one-on-one with Burt.
- 3rd, 5:03 | NU GOAL WAIVED OFF – Northeastern had the go-ahead goal waived off after a player crashed into BC goaltender Katie Burt before Melissa Haganey put her own rebound in, but it was immediately waived off by the referees and confirmed by replay.
