BC Alumni Recognized as Eagles Fall Short to Notre Dame

Irish remain undefeated in ACC play after sweep of BC.

BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Alumni Weekend on the Heights saw the Eagles honor six former players: Mallori Moffat, Katty Workman, Franny Hock, Sarah Mendes, Kellie Barnum and Courtney Castle. The alumni each contributed a tile to the Eagles' parquet floor with their signatures and best wishes.
- The Eagles were solid in hitting percentage in the second set, posting a .353 team hitting percentage. Senior Julia Topor was the team leader on the day for the Eagles, hitting .364 and tallying 5 kills, while sophomore McKenna Goss and freshman Jill Strockis contributed 7 kills of their own.
- In blocking, freshman Sophia West was the leader for the Maroon and Gold in the match, totaling three total blocks (3 block assists).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
The Eagles fell behind early, 5-1, after a series of errors and an ace from Notre Dame's Ryann Dejarld, older sister of BC setter Jane DeJarld. BC fell behind by as many as seven points at 18-11, forcing Coach Chris Campbell to call timeout. The Maroon and Gold couldn't rally and fell, 25-18.
Set 2
Notre Dame established a four-point lead at 11-7, its largest at the time, forcing BC to call timeout. The Eagles were able to fight back, coming within one point of the lead three different times. Notre Dame hung onto the lead throughout as BC dropped the set, 25-21.
Set 3
The set was tied at four all, but the Irish took the next four points after a series of attack errors by the Eagles to go ahead 8-4, forcing BC to call timeout. Notre Dame extended its run to 8-1, putting the lead at 12-5. After tacking on two more, the Irish forced BC to call timeout again at 14-6. The Maroon and Gold never challenged as the Irish took the victory, 25-12.
UP NEXT
The Eagles hit the road again next weekend, travelling to Atlanta and Clemson for matches against Georgia Tech (Friday, 7 p.m.) and Clemson (Sunday, 1 p.m.).
