The Eagles open their home slate with two against Maine this weekend

AGAINST MAINE: SERIES NOTES
- This weekend's meetings will be the 57th and 58th meetings all-time between BC and Maine
- The Eagles hold a 35-15-6 advantage in the all-time series, including a 18-9-2 mark at home ... BC also leads on the road, 17-6-4 ... there has never been a neutral-site meeting between the programs
- The teams also met twice in 1994-95 - BC's first varsity season - before Maine elevated to varsity status ... in fact, Maine was the Eagles' first-ever opponent as a varsity team, playing its first-ever D1 game on Oct. 30, 1994
- In Hockey East regular-season play, BC is 30-10-4 against the Black Bears since the league was founded ahead of the 2002-03 season

- Katie Burt has only been called on to make 20 or more saves against Maine once in her career: Feb. 26, 2015 in a 5-2 win in the Hockey East Quarterfinals)
- Kenzie Kent recorded the only three-assist game of her career against Maine on Dec. 5, 2015
- Makenna Newkirk picked up five points (3g, 2a) in the teams' two-game Hockey East Quarterfinal series last year

THE EAGLES IN HOME OPENERS
- Boston College is 14-7-1 all-time in home openers, including wins in their last three home openers at Kelley Rink
- The Eagles' last loss in a home opener came to No. 6 Boston University on Oct. 5, 2012 (4-2)
- This will be the third time BC opens the home slate against Maine: Oct. 30, 1994 (W, 13-0) and Oct. 6, 2013 (W, 5-1)

- This week Boston College is ranked No. 5 in both the USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls
- This marks the 53rd straight USCHO poll that the Eagles have been ranked in the Top 5, the longest streak in program history
- The Eagles were ranked No. 5 on Feb. 17, 2014 and have been in the Top 5 since then, including the final five polls of the 2013-14 season, all 23 polls in 2014-15 and 2015-16 and both of this year's editions
HOCKEY EAST'S RECORD WIN MARK TO EXTEND?
- BC will opens the 2016-17 Hockey East season riding a 49-game undefeated streak in regular-season league play that dates back to the 2013-14 season
- The Eagles' last loss in regular-season HEA play was Feb. 8, 2014, a 2-0 setback at Connecticut
- Since that loss, BC is 48-0-1 in regular-season action, including league marks of 20-0-1 in 2014-15 and 24-0-0 in 2015-16
- BC's 24 straight wins in Hockey East play is also the conference's record for consecutive wins
- Since the start of the 2012-13 season, BC is 79-4-4 in the HEA regular season
NCAA-RECORD HOME STREAKS STRETCH ON
- The Eagles are riding an NCAA-record 52-game home unbeaten run that dates back to Oct. 20, 2013
- In this current stretch, BC has gone 51-0-1 and won the last 46 games played at Kelley Rink - also an NCAA record
- BC's 52-game unbeaten streak and its 46-game home winning streak passed Minnesota's prior records of 31 games (both undefeated and winning) set from early 2012 through late 2013
- The Eagles have out-scored their opponents 284-69 during the current unbeaten run, averaging 5.46 goals per game while allowing just 1.33 goals per game
- The last time BC lost at Kelley Rink was Oct. 16, 2013, a 3-1 defeat to UNH
LAST SATURDAY'S ROAD LOSS WAS A RECENT RARITY
- More than 1.5 years passed between the Eagles' last two road losses
- Before Saturday's 5-2 loss at Minnesota Duluth, BC's last road defeat was a 3-2 loss at No. 4 Harvard in the 2015 Beanpot championship game on Feb. 10, 2015
- Since the start of the 2014-15 season, BC is 30-2-2 in away games
FRESHMEN MAKE AN IMMEDIATE SPLASH
- Four different freshmen made their marks on the scoresheets last week, collecting their first career points during the opening weekend's games
- Caitrin Lonergan scored one power-play goal in each game while Delaney Belinskas added a power-play goal in the second game at Minnesota Duluth
- Kate Annese and Bridget McCarthy also notched their first collegiate points, recording assists on Lonergan and Belinskas' goals - respectively - last Saturday
- Additionally, Caroline Ross was one of the Eagles' six defensemen in both games
ANASTOS MAKING RUN FOR TOP-10
- When Andie Anastos returns from her injury, she will be closer to the Eagles' Top 10 scoring list
- She currently has 104 career points and sits in 12th place on the Eagles' career scoring chart
- On Friday, Sept. 30 in the season opener, she collected two points to move into sole possession of 12th place after entering the season tied with Emily Pfalzer '15 with 102 points
- Anastos is now 11 points back of 10th-place Laura Traynham '97, who finished her career with 125 points
- Anastos was the 13th player in program history to break the 100-point plateau
HOCKEY EAST'S TOP RETURNING SCORERS
- Andie Anastos is the top returning scorer in Hockey East this season
- Her 70 points in league play sits atop all returning players, ahead of Northeastern's duo of Denisa Krizova and Hayley Scamurra with 60 points each
- Kenzie Kent is sixth with 49 career points in HEA play, while Megan Keller is tied for eighth with 47 points and Kristyn Capizzano tied for 10th with 45
KELLER TO DON THE RED, WHITE AND BLUE
- Megan Keller has been called in to the U.S. National Team for the 2016 Four Nations Cup, Nov. 1-5 in Finland
- Keller is one of three collegians on the squad and is USA Hockey's youngest player on the roster
- She is one of six BC Eagles set to represent the U.S., joining Alex Carpenter '16, Emily Pfalzer '15, Haley Skarupa '16, Kelli Stack '11 and Dana Trivigno '16
- Keller will join the national team on Oct. 28, and is expected to miss four games: Oct. 28 vs. UConn, Oct. 29 at UConn, Nov. 4 vs. BU and Nov. 5 at BU
THE NEXT CENTURIANS
- Three different Eagles are making a push for 100 career points this season after passing 75 points last season
- Kenzie Kent has 81 points, while Kristyn Capizzano has 78 and Megan Keller 77
NATIONAL LEADERS JUST A WEEK IN
- Several Eagles are among the national leaders just a week into the season
- Caitrin Lonergan shares the national lead in both freshman goals (2) and overall lead in power-play goals (2) ... she is also tied for sixth nationally in points per game (1.00)
- Andie Anastos and Delaney Belinskas are tied for fourth nationally with one power-play goal apiece
- Kali Flanagan and Toni Ann Miano are both tied for fifth in defensemen points, eaching recording 2 points so far
- As a team, BC shares the national lead in power-play percentage, converting 4-of-8 chances (50 percent), and are second in combined special teams at 70 percent (14-for-20)
HOCKEY EAST PROGNOSTICATIONS
- Boston College was picked to win the Hockey East title again this season according to the conference's 2016-17 preseason coaches' poll
- It marked the second straight year the Eagles were looked to repeat as regular-season winners after also copping the top spot in the 2015-16 preseason coaches poll
- The Eagles received six of the eight available votes to them, with BU coming in second and Northeastern ranking third
HOCKEY EAST SUCCESS OVERALL
- Hockey East is celebrating its 15th season as a women's league
- BC is 176-85-28 all-time in league play (.657) ... the Eagles have won three regular-season crowns (2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16) and two tournament titles (2011, 2016)
