SERIES HISTORY
- Â Boston College and Clemson have met 25 times with the Tigers holding a 14-9-2 series advantage.
- Clemson has won five consecutive meetings over Boston College. The last win for BC in the series was a 16-10 triumph at Alumni Stadium in 2010.
- BC is 6-7-1 all-time at home vs. Clemson.
- The series began in 1940 as thetwo teams met in the Cotton Bowl inDallas, Texas. No. 12 Clemson defeated the 11th-ranked Eagles, 6-3, in the first meeting between the two schools.
- BC has played Clemson 12 times when the Tigers have been ranked, going 2-9-1 vs. Clemson.
- Friday's meeting is the third time Clemson has been ranked in the top five at the time facing BC. No. 5 Clemson won, 34-17, last season and No. 3 Clemson earned a 24-14 victory in 2013.
- Upon the conclusion of the game, this award is handed out annually to the winner of the Boston College-Clemson football game by the Boston College Gridiron Club.
- A genuine leather helmet will also be awarded to the game's MVP. The helmet will be a replica of the one worn in the 1940s.
- The Boston College Gridiron Club initiated this award in recognition of the efforts of the Clemson fans to welcome Boston College into the ACC.
- The trophy honors the rich football tradition of both schools as well as the legacy of a great player from each school who played during the leather helmet era.
- Clemson and Boston College met for the first time in the 1940 Cotton Bowl. It was the first bowl game for each team.
- As one of the best quarterbacks in the nation, Deshaun Watson has thrown for 1,302 yards and has rush for 211 yards through five games. He also has tallied 14 touchdowns this season.
- The Leader of the backfield for the Tigers is running back Wayne Gallman who is averaging 4.6 yards per carry and has found the end zone one four occasions
- The receivers for the Tigers have amassed 16 touchdowns through the air and five receivers have at least two touchdowns.
- In their five games, Clemson's defense has only allowed nine touchdowns, six on the ground and three in the air.
- Boston College once again is ranked the number one defense in the nation
- Graduate QB Patrick Towles is coming of a game where he amassed a Boston College career-high 234 passing yards and threw for two touchdowns.
- The wide receiver trio of sophomore Jeff Smith, sophomore Michael Walker and junior Charlie Callinan have all recorded at least 125 yards and have a combined total of six touchdowns.
- Redshirt freshman RB Davon Jones has rushed for 143 yards in his past two games which is the most yards in that span.
- The BC defense has allowed 174 total yards of the last two games and has only allowed one touchdown and one field goal.
- The Eagles defense has recorded 16 sacks this season with junior DE Harold Landry at the top of the leaderboard with 5.5 sacks
