TURNING POINT
A miscommunication between an NC State defender and the goalkeeper resulted in the game-winning goal in the fifth minute of overtime.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Boston College came out with three forwards in its starting formation and it resulted in Davock's first goal in the third minute. Lewis stole the ball in the defensive half and sent a long ball to Davock. He took it to the right side and found the left side netting for the 1-0 lead.
- NC State responded in the 12th minute after a dangerous foul call in the box gave the Wolfpack an indirect kick. Julius Duchscherer took it and struck the back of the net for the equalizer.
- Davock tallied his second goal in the 23rd minute to make it a 2-1 BC lead. He finished a scramble in the box after feeds from Lewis and Johnson.
- Johnson made it a 3-1 lead four minutes later when he took a shot from 25 yards out. The NC State keeper was blocked from its view and the shot went in without an attempt for a save.
- NC State's Tanner Roberts scored in the 59th and 69th minutes to tie it again at 3-3. The first goal was after a BC miscue in the corner on the defensive end and the second was a header off a corner kick.
- Davock scored 66 seconds after NC State tied it when he took a ball and made a magnificent run past a couple of defenders and the keeper for the goal.
- Simon Blotko and Clayton Sparks found Lukas Zarges for the third equalizing goal of the match in the 85th minute to force overtime.
- In the fifth minute of overtime, an NC State defender tried to play the ball back to his keeper with Davock on his tail. The two miscommunicated and the ball rolled into the back of the net for the BC win.
