TALE OF TWO (COMPLETELY DIFFERENT) GAMES THIS SEASON
BC and BU's two previous games this season could not have been any more different ... on Nov. 7, the Eagles posted an 8-1 win at Walter Brown Arena, marking the Eagles' largest margin of victory over BU in the Hockey East era ... three nights later on Nov. 10, the two teams played to a 3-3 tie after regulation at Kelley Rink, before BC pulled out the 4-3 in the extra session for the victory.
BACK TO NUMBERO UNO
Just before the break, BC vaulted into the nation's No. 1 ranking for the first time in 2015-16 ... this is the second-straight season the Eagles have appeared at the top of the charts, and it was the first time since the March 9, 2015 poll - entering the NCAA Tournament ... in 2014-15, the Eagles earned their first-ever No. 1 ranking and topped both the USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Polls from Nov. 3 through March 9 - a span of 17 polls.
EAGLES MATCHED NCAA HISTORY AT THE BREAK ...
Boston College resumes play after the winter break at 20-0-0, marking the first time the Eagles have maintained a perfect record this late into the season ... it's also just the second time in the NCAA era that team was perfect at the break ... the 2012-13 Minnesota team went 19-0-0 at the break, the only other team in NCAA history that posted a perfect record at the holidays.
... AND CONTINUES PROGRAM'S RECORD START
BC enters Saturday's game 20-0-0, the program's best-ever start to a season ... last year in 2014-15, even as the Eagles set a program record going undefeated through the first 28 games, the team earned a tie at St. Lawrence in the third game of the season to start 2-0-1 ... before this year, the longest Boston College had gone into the season with a perfect record was four games (4-0-0) in 2010-11.
RED, WHITE AND BLUE TO MAROON AND GOLD
A total of six current Eagles - and nine total - participated in USA Hockey's Women's Winter Camp last week (Dec. 27-Jan. 1) in Blaine, Minn. ... Alex Carpenter, Megan Keller, Haley Skarupa and Dana Trivigno returned to the WNT fold after a break this fall, while Katie Burt and Kali Flanagan were also called into camp ... in addition to the current Eagles, alums Emily Pfalzer '15, Kelli Stack '11 and Allie Thunstrom '10 were also participants as all three were on the U.S. Team at the Four Nations Cup in October/November.
TRIVIGNO KNOCKING ON TOP 10's DOOR
Dana Trivigno became the latest Eagle to hit the 100-point mark on her career and she's set to join the top 10 in scoring in short order ... Trivigno enters Saturday's game in 11th place in the BC scoring charts with 111 points, two points back of 10th place (113 - Mary Restuccia '12). ... her first-period goal on Nov. 10 against BU was her 100th career point, and she became the 12th player in BC history to reach that 100-point plateau ... Trivigno is the third player of the Class of '16 to reach 100 points.
SKARUPA THIRD TO HIT 200-POINT MILESTONE
Haley Skarupa became the third women's player in BC history to reach the 200-point milestone in BC's last game with her five-assist effort ... she entered the game on Dec. 10 with 199 career points, and finished with 204 career points - with all of her points coming through a career-best five assists ... Skarupa now has 94 career goals and 110 career assists in 123 games ... Kelli Stack '11 was the first women's player to reach 200 points, doing so in 2011 and finishing her career with 209 points ... earlier this year, Alex Carpenter reached 200 points, as well.
CROWLEY ALSO REACHES 200 ... WINS
Katie Crowley, in her ninth season as the Eagles' head coach, has a career record of 200-73-39 at the helm of the Eagles' program ... she recorded her 200th career win at Syracuse on Dec. 10, 2015 ... she has a career winning percentage of .706 ... overall, this is her 13th season at The Heights after joining Tom Mutch's staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2003-04 season.
