Boston College was held to just 15 first half points and never recovered as the Eagles fell to No. 19/15 Florida State, 75-42, at the Tucker Center in Tallahassee, Florida on Thursday night. The Eagles are now 11-3 and 0-2 in the ACC. Florida State improved to 11-5 and 1-1 in the conference.
BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman Mariella Fasoula had 13 points and five rebounds while Nicole Boudreau finished with 11 points and five assists.
- Florida State came out hot as Leticia Romero hit two consecutive three's to open the game. FSU took an 11-0 lead and forced BC into calling a timeout after Emiah Bingley hit the third three of the quarter.
- BC didn't get on the board until Kelly Hughes hit a mid-range jumper and then a three after FSU turned the ball over – FSU 11, BC 5. A 12-5 run by FSU capped off by a jumper by Romero gave FSU a 23-10 lead. BC finished the quarter shooting 29 percent, had six turnovers and was down, 26-10, after one.
- The second quarter didn't change. BC battled but the constant pressure from the Seminoles forced BC into a rushed offense and just five points in the second quarter. BC was down, 39-15, at the half. The Eagles shot just 22.2 percent and had 12 turnovers.
- In the third quarter, Boston College opened up 5-for-8 from the floor. A three-pointer by Nicole Boudreau cut the FSU lead, 45-27, with five minutes to play. The Eagles continued to battle as a Boudreau mid-range baseline jumper cut the FSU lead to 18 points with 1:09 to play. FSU hits a three at the buzzer to go up, 57-35, after three. Boudreau scored 11 of the Eagles 20 points in the quarter.
- The final quarter, Florida State outscored BC, 7-2, in the first five minutes. BC struggled offensively as Florida State heated up from the outside. The Eagles were outscored, 18-7, in the quarter.
