Junior Kelly Hughes made a season-high seven three-pointers and finished with 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds but Boston College lost, 62-61, to Syracuse at the Carrier Dome. Â Syracuse's Cornelia Fondren made one foul shot with 1.9 on the clock to seal the win. The Orange is now 15-6 on the season and 5-3 in the conference, BC dropped to 13-7 and 1-6 in the conference.
BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Kelly Hughes notched her third double-double (21 points, 13 rebounds) of the season while Mariella Fasoula pitched in with 18 points.
- Senior Alexa Coulombe played 30 minutes and had seven assists while Nicole Boudreau had nine points four rebounds and three assists.
- The Eagles came out quick as they took a 13-5 lead behind three three's from Kelly Hughes. Two straight hoops by Kailey Edwards gave BC a 20-8 lead with 3:22 to play. Brianna Butler got hot and hit a long three followed by a layup to cut the lead to 20-14 with 1:38 to play. After one, BC held a 20-16 lead, behind nine points from Kelly Hughes.
- Butler scored seven points in the first five of the second quarter as Syracuse took a 2-25 lead. The Orange opened on a 15-5 run. Butler continued her hot shooting as she hit a three at the four minute mark and another with 3:20 to play for a 36-29 lead. The Cuse held a 40-31 halftime lead. Syracuse was 7-for-17 from the three-point arc while BC hit just four but the 18 turnovers resulted in the nine point lead at the half.
- Hughes got the Eagles back in the game as she hit three for four from long range in the first five minutes – BC 40, Cuse 46. A Nicole Boudreau three-pointer with 2:31 to play cut the Cuse lead to two points. BC outscored Syracuse, 18-13, in the quarter but the Orange held a 52-49 lead.
- Boudreau and Hughes opened the final quarter with three's and the Eagles took the lead with 3:44 on a layin by Mariella Fasoula. Brittny Sykes completed a three-point play to go up, 61-59, with 3:29 left. BC tied the game on great pass from Alexa Coulombe to Fasoula down low with 1:29 left. Hughes then stole the and BC called a timeout. The Eagles went to Fasoula down low but Briana Day blocked the shot and Syracuse had the ball with 7.5 to play. After a timeout by Syracuse, Conelia Fondren grabbed an offensive board and was fouled with 1.9 to play. She hit the first foul shot but missed the second. Hughes rebounded the ball but did not have enough on the clock to fire a shot.

- BC had 18 turnovers at the half which resulted in 21 points for Syracuse. The Eagles had only seven turnover sin the second half.
- The lead changed three times and the game was tied twice.
- Boston College held a 26-16 edge in rebounds at the half. The Eagles won the battle of the boards, 45-44. Hughes had a career-high 13 boards while Emilee Daley had seven.
- The Eagles continue to share the ball as they recorded 19 assists.
