BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman Mariella Fasoula led the way with 20 points and four rebounds while junior Kelly Hughes added eight points and a team-high five rebounds.
- With her three-point basket in the third quarter, Hughes became just the fifth player in Boston College history to reach 200 made three-point field goals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles only trailed 13-12 after the first quarter, thanks to a strong inside game. All 12 of the team's points in the quarter came from inside the paint with Mariella Fasoula contributing eight of them on 4-of-6 shooting.
- The Irish opened the second quarter on a 5-0 run, however, Boston College responded with a 6-2 run of their own, including a pair of buckets from Fasoula. After exchanging a pair of buckets, Notre Dame turned on the jets to close out the quarter on a 10-0 run behind nine points from Marina Mabrey to take a 32-20 lead into the half.
- The Irish began the third quarter on a 8-2 run sparked by Brianna Turner's three-point play. A three-pointer from Emilee Daley stopped the bleeding for the Eagles and Kelly Hughes knocked in a trey of her own with 3:43 remaining in the quarter to cap off an 8-2 run for Boston College. The team's finished the quarter trading buckets, with Notre Dame holding a 51-37 edge after three.
- After trading buckets to open the fourth, the Eagles ran off six straight points courtesy of a Nicole Boudreau three-pointer and a layup from Fasoula to cut the Irish lead to single-digits with 7:20 remaining. But that would be as close as Boston College would get, as the Eagles went scoreless over the next four minutes while Notre Dame went on a 7-0 run of their own capped by a wide-open three by Madison Cable to extend the lead to 16 with 4:07 remaining.
