HOW IT HAPPENED
- SMU came out hot and had a couple of good chances out of the gate. It connected in the 13th minute after a foul in its offensive third. Mauro Cichero took the free kick from 25 yards out and curled it inside the right post to give the Mustangs the early lead.
- Ampadu equalized the match 10 minutes later. He took a pass from Enstrom and sent a cross near the goal line from the right side. The keeper got to it, but deflected it into the back of his own net to make it 1-1.
- Just 25 seconds later, Ampadu had a brilliant strike from more than 30 yards away that beat the diving keeper to give BC a 2-1 lead.
- The Mustangs tied the match in the 63rd minute after Jared Rice sent a free kick into the box. Cichero got a foot on it and then Michael King put it home to tie it up again.
- The game-winner came 10 minutes later on a tremendous individual effort from Lewis. He showed off brilliant skill and footwork to find the back of the net.
- BC put the game away in the 88th minute when the keeper came well off his line to thwart a Lewis attack. The ball deflected to Enstrom who had an open net, and he found it from 35 yards away.
- SMU outshot BC 17-12 and hit the post three times in the 90 minutes.
