The sophomore tallied a career-high nine tackles against Northern Illinois
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College sophomore Connor Strachan was named Atlantic Coast Conference Linebacker of the Week, the league announced on Monday. He led the Eagles (3-1, 0-1 ACC) in tackles for the third time in 2015 with a career-high nine in the victory over Northern Illinois on Saturday.
The Wellesley, Mass., native logged seven solo stops and tallied career highs with one sack for a loss of nine yards and 2.5 tackles for a loss of 11 yards. He helped the BC defense hold the Huskies to just 72 rushing yards and only 153 total yards as BC continues to be the top-ranking defense in the nation. The Eagles have yet to allow a team over 100 rushing yards in 2015.
Strachan is the second straight Eagles to earn a defensive weekly honor from the ACC has classmate Harold Landry took home defensive lineman of the week after his performance against Florida State. It is also the third defensive honor for the top-ranking BC defense, as senior Mehdi Abdesmad earned lineman of the week honors in week one.
The Eagles travel to Durham, N.C., to take on Duke on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 3:30 p.m. for the first road bout of the season. The game will be televised on the ACC Regional Sports Network.
