- Freshman Derek Lyons recorded a goal and an assist in the match – his first career points as an Eagle.
- Freshmen Abe Bibas and Tommy Garcia-Morillo also scored their first career goals in the match.
- Sophomore Henry Balf was credited with the game-winning goal in the 43rd minute. It was the first goal of his career as well.
- Junior Zeiko Lewis and freshman Trevor Davock were credited with assists.

Lyons scored the game-winning goal in the 43rd minute and then Bibas provided insurance in the 48th minute to give Boston College a 3-1 lead.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A Virginia Tech foul set up a Lewis free kick outside the top left side of the box in the 36th minute. He sent a pass into the box and Bibas put a header into the lower corner for the match's first goal.
- The lead didn't last long as the Hokies equalized the match 42 seconds later when Ricardo John put home a pass from Alessandro Mion.
- The Eagles regained the lead before the first 45 minutes were up when Lyons assisted on Balf's score in the 43rd.
- Lyons added some insurance shortly after halftime, putting home a rebound in the 48th minute to make it a 3-1 lead.
- Garcia-Morillo capped the scoring in the 83rd minute with an assist from Davock.
