Florida State Postgame Quotes

Florida State at Boston College
September 18, 2015
Alumni Stadium, Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Florida State Head Coach Jimbo Fisher
Opening Statement...Â
"Our defense was outstanding and another shout out to our punter Cason Beatty. I thought he was huge today; that guy was hitting punts and keeping field position. They were hitting them too. That's a guy that went through a couple of rough weeks; not played as well as he was capable of playing.''
"Offensively, it was an outstanding first drive. We went right down the field. The second half we had three critical third downs. We had them, we just missed the throws. We didn't execute. That starts with me. I have to do a better job on offense getting these guys to execute better, playing better. It's there. We are a work in progress."
"Our defense played outstanding and that's where it starts. If they don't score, we don't lose. That's for sure. Coach Kelly and the staff did a tremendous job getting those guys ready to play and they played pretty well. Give BC credit, they are a very good football team, a great defensive team. Offensively, they do good things. It's always a battle with them.''
Florida State WR Kermit Whitfield
On Struggles of the offense after the first drive...
"After the first drive, everything started going slow. The line has to get better at blocking. The receivers have to get better at catching balls. It just went downhill. We picked it up, faced adversity and kept it going so that we could get out with a `W'."
Main thing to work on after three games...
"Basically blocking, run-routing and to keep playing fast without the ball in my hands."
On the performance of the BC defense...
"They played real good. Their up-front was very physical, getting to the backfield, sacking the quarterback. They put a lot of pressure on the offensive line and the quarterback."
On importance of scoring first against a tough defense...
"It was very good. They were pumping us up. Before the game started, we [knew] we had to start fast. We had to punch them in the mouth. We had to start fast and that is what we did."
