BC HIGHLIGHTS
- The BC defense held the Bison to 11 total yards - a school record - and just two first downs.
- The Eagles scored 62 points in the first half, including 41 first-quarter points.
- The Eagles scored 11 touchdowns on the day, led by junior Tyler Rouse and freshman Jeff Smith, who tallied three rushing scores each.
- Smith, redshirt freshman Troy Flutie, sophomore Connor Strachan (interception return), redshirt freshman Richard Wilson and senior Sean Burke all recorded their first career touchdowns.
KEY PLAYS
- The Eagles started the game with two sacks on Howard's first drive and sophomore Sherman Alston returned a punt a career-long 39 yards. Coupled with a penalty, Rouse tallied a three-yard rushing TD in four seconds and BC did not look back.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Rouse's touchdown to start the game, Strachan intercepted Kalen Johnson's pass and returned it 16 yards to make it 14-0. On the next BC drive, Rouse rushed in five yards but the Eagles did not complete the two-point conversion to make 20-0.
- Completing the first-quarter scoring, sophomore Jon Hilliman notched a five-yard run, Rouse ran in on a 15-yard score and Smith scored from nine yards outs on his first career play from scrimmage.
- In the second quarter, Wilson caught a seven-yard pass from sophomore Darius Wade a minute and a half into the game to make it a 48-0 game. Sophomore Marcus Outlow was next, scoring with almost seven minute to play in the half on a 32-yard run, his first career rushing TD.
- On the Eagles' final drive of the half, Flutie rushing for 20 yards to get into Howard territory. On third-and-five he connected with Rouse for a 17-yard pass and then on third-and-one at the 10-yard line, he hit Burke to give the Eagles the 62-0 lead.
- Smith scored both the Eagles' touchdowns in the second half. In the third quarter, on second-and-10, he gained 37 on a run that brought BC down to the Howard three-yard line. After Wilson rushed for two, Smith kept it for a one-yard score.
- In the fourth quarter, Smith scored on a 27-yard run with just under six minutes to play in the game.
UP NEXT
The Eagles host No. 11/8 Florida State on Friday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
