Eagles' Newsstand: August 12
August 12, 2015 | Football
Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College football team is in full swing in the preseason, as the Eagles prepare for the 2015 season and the home opener against Maine on Sept. 5.
Senior defensive back Justin Simmons is back as the Eagles' top returning tackler, racking up 76 in 2014, including 63 solo stops. He started the first seven games at free safety but moved to corner after injuries plagued the position. He proved to be a sharp, quick study and hopes to be one of the leaders in the secondary this season.
Sophomore kicker Mike Knoll spend the summer training and growing after his freshman year campaign. His missed extra-point against Penn State in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl is one of things that drives him to improve on the field.
And in the professional ranks, recent BC graduate Andy Gallik has been trying his hand at guard with the Tennessee Titans after injuries have created a void at the position. It would be the first time in his career the four-year starting BC center played the position.
