John Jackopsic Qualified For The US Amateur

Former Boston College golfer John Jackopsic is having a solid summer on the golf course. A native of West Hartford, Jackopsic was second at the 115th US Amateur in Kensington, Conn as he shot a 68 and 69 in the qualifier on Tuesday at Shuttle Meadow Country Club. He will compete in the US Amateur Championship at Olympia Fields Country Club in Illinois.
Jackopsic’s first round he had five birdies, nine pars and one eagle. In the second round of the day, he had 12 pars and four birdies. In two rounds he had just four bogeys.
Incoming rookie Matthew Naumec had a great day placing third overall. He had 14 pars and three birdies in the first round. The second round Naumec had 12 pars, three birdies and had just three bogeys in two rounds.
In women’s golf, sophomore Jocelyn Chia placed fourth the week of June 28th at the Long Beach City Women’s Amateur. She had a tournament low of 67 at Recreation Park Golf Course.
