Abdesmad and Williams to Represent BC at ACC Football Kickoff

Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Boston College seniors Mehdi Abdesmad and Harris Williams will be two of the 28 Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes to attend ACC Football Kickoff on July 19-21 at the Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina, the league announced on Wednesday.
Third-year head coach Steve Addazio will also be in attendance.
Abdesmad has played in 27 games for the Eagles in four years at both defensive end and tackle, recording 49 tackles, including 6.5 for a loss and two sacks. He started four games at left tackles in 2013 before a knee injury sidelined him for the reminder of the season. He notched a career-high seven tackles at Southern California. He also played in three games last season before another season-ending knee injury. The Montreal native made eight starts in 2012, making 25 tackles, forcing a fumble against Virginia Tech and recovering one against Maine.
Williams returns to the field after suffering a season-ending ankle injury in the first game of the 2014 season. He started all 13 games at right guard in 2013 and was a key component in the offensive line that helped produce a rushing attached that average 212.5 yards per game, a mark good for second in the ACC and 20th in the nation. The Lynn, Mass., native anchored the o-line that yielding Heisman Memorial Trophy finalist and the ACC’s first Doak Walker Award recipient Andre Williams, who became the 16th player in FBS history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season. Williams played in two games in 2012, but missed significant time because of a broken foot. He played in seven games as a redshirt freshman in 2011.
