Keegan Named To BC Varsity Club Hall of Fame

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Former Boston College men's soccer standout Paul Keegan '96 and seven other outstanding athletes will be inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame this fall.
The other seven being honored are: Doug Brzezinski ‘98 (football), Chris Georgules ‘95 (track and field), Mary Guarino ‘00 (women’s soccer), Mike Mottau ‘00 (men's ice hockey), Alissa Murphy Richardson ‘00 (women’s basketball), Kelly McManus Souza ‘02 (women’s ice hockey) and Damian Woody ‘99 (football).
The honorees will be inducted in a ceremony on Friday, Oct. 9 at Conte Forum. They will also be recognized at halftime of the Eagles' football game against Wake Forest on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Upon arriving at the Heights, Paul Keegan made an immediate impact on the pitch. A four-time NSCAA Regional All-American, Keegan was a three-time NSCAA All-American and three-time Big East first team honoree. In 1992, Keegan received the Big East Rookie of the Year. He led BC to two NCAA Tournament appearances and helped the Eagles win the 1994 Big East Championship. A native of Dublin, Ireland, Keegan still owns the program record for most career goals (31); career assists (21) and points (83). Keegan, who received BC’s highest honor athletic honor the 1996 Eagle of the Year, was drafted in the first round of the MLS Draft by the New England Revolution. He went on to play professionally for 10 years.
