Eight Players Earned Spot on ACC Academic Honor Roll

Burke earned the accolade all three years of career
Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Eight Boston College baseball players were among the 416 total BC student-athletes on the 59th annual Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll, announced on Wednesday by Commissioner John Swofford.
BC was second in the ACC in the total number of student-athletes honored, only to Duke (478).
The honor roll is comprised of student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.00 or better for the full academic year. The conference acknowledged 4,147 student-athletes for their hard work in the classroom during the 2014-15 academic year.
Notre Dame saw 414 student-athletes achieve honor-roll status while North Carolina had 339 recognized. Virginia was fifth in the conference with 317 student-athletes recognized followed by Louisville with 285 in its first year of ACC membership. Syracuse was next with 266, followed by Pittsburgh with 246, Virginia Tech with 238, Florida State with 214, NC State with 210, Clemson with 196, Wake Forest with 183, Georgia Tech with 173 and Miami with 172.
Jeff Burke, who was drafted in the 32nd round by the San Francisco Giants, earned a spot on the honor roll all three years of his BC career. Recent graduated John Gorman, who was drafted in the 31st round by the Oakland A's, tallied the honor for the second time in his career. He was also named to the All-ACC Academic Team. Geoffrey Murphy collected the honor for the third time in his career.
