NESN highlighted the relationship between the current and former Eagles
Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Former Boston College baseball captain Pete Frates, who is now a household name for championing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which raised millions for research, met current junior Chris Shaw long before the outfielder had set foot on the Chestnut Hill campus. They were playing baseball together for the Lexington Blue Sox in the Intercity League.
Frates immediately called newly-appointed Eagles head coach Mike Gambino to look at Shaw and that was just the beginning of a very special relationship that has only blossomed in the last five years.
New England Sports Network (NESN) documented the bond between the current and former Eagles.
