Rowing Shows Depth Against BU and URI

Kingston, R.I.- Boston College Women's Rowing showed depth winning the Varsity Four, Second Varsity Four, and Third Varsity Eight events against BU and URI on Saturday morning.
BC finished second in the Varsity Eight behind URI, and ahead of BU. URI led both BU and BC for most of the race. BU was ahead of BC at the start, but the Eagles pulled through for a decisive second place. URI won with a time of 7:05.82, BC was second in 7:09.33, and BU was 3rd in 7:15.03.
The Second Varsity Eight was the closest event of the day. All three teams competed closely in the first half of the race. BU won the race with a time of 7:24.54, URI was second with a time of 7:26.77, and BC was third by a narrow margin with a time of 7:27.64.
The Varsity Four came from behind to win their race with a time of 8:11.46, ahead of BU 8:13.44, and URI 8:20.61.
The Second Varsity Four raced against two BU boats. BC pulled ahead in the first 400 meters and held a strong lead through the finish.
BC finished with a time of 8:52.68, ahead of BU A 9:02.67, and BU B 9:49. BC finished first and second in the Third Varsity Eight event, in which BC had two entries. Rhode Island took the lead at the start followed by the BC Third Varsity Eight, BU, and the BC Fourth Varsity Eight. The BC Third Varsity Eight slowly took the lead from URI as BC's Fourth Varsity Eight moved on BU. Coming into the last 500 the BC 3V had a strong lead and the BC 4V was challenging for 2nd. The BC 3V finished with a time of 7:55.75, the BC 4V was second with a time of 8:01.16, URI was 3rd with a time of 8:06.18, followed by BU 8:16.14.
