April 15, 2015 | Men's Basketball
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College junior guard Olivier Hanlan has decided to forego his senior season and enter the 2015 NBA Draft.
Hanlan became the fifth Boston College player to earn First Team All-ACC accolades this past year and the first since Reggie Jackson in 2011. He was also named an Honorable Mention Associated Press All-American.
"Olivier has been an absolute joy to work with over this past year both on and off the court," Head Coach Jim Christian said. "His relentless pursuit to become one of the best players in the nation has put him in a position to succeed at the next level. We fully support him in his decision to pursue his dream of playing in the NBA and look forward to following his future success. I cannot thank him enough for all he did for me personally and for our program during my first season as head coach at Boston College."
During conference play this season, Hanlan finished first in the league in scoring (21.9), first in 3-point percentage (.436), third in 3-pointers made (2.83), fifth in free throw percentage (.810), sixth in field goal percentage (.483) and 10th in assists (4.00). The Aylmer, Quebec product led the ACC in 30-point games (four) and also led all players in major conferences in scoring average during league play. He ranked 22nd in the nation in scoring (19.5).
Hanlan ranks 12th all-time in scoring (1,725) and ninth in 3-pointers made (176) at BC. He was named ACC Freshman of the Year in 2013 and was the only unanimous choice for the ACC all-freshman teams that year. Hanlan was a Third Team All-ACC honoree as a sophomore.
STATEMENT FROM OLIVIER HANLAN
"After much consideration, I have decided to pursue my dream of playing professional basketball and will enter the 2015 NBA Draft. I cannot thank Coach Christian and Coach Donahue, the BC coaching staff, my teammates, professors and the entire Boston College family enough for giving me the opportunity to develop as a person, student and athlete. I would also like to thank all of the fans who have supported me throughout my time at BC. I am extremely grateful for the experiences I have had and the friendships I have made over the past three years and look forward to taking this next step in my career. I am equally excited for the future of the BC Men's Basketball program and I look forward to watching the team continue to succeed. Although my time at BC is coming to an end, I know I will always be an Eagle at heart."
