Notes & Quotes From Saturday Football Scrimmage
March 21, 2015 | Football
The Boston College football team held its final indoor practice/scrimmage of the "spring" season - as a light snow fell outside - in the Alumni Stadium bubble this morning. The bubble will be taken down and stored this week.
The team will hold an open practice/offense vs. defense scrimmage next Saturday at noon. Admission is free.
Coach Steve Addazio on today's scrimmage:
"I thought we came out with a great attitude, there was some great effort out here. Both sides are working hard. There were some great things happening today.
"Obviously we can throw the ball a little bit. We need to figure it out now. We need to figure out exactly where we go. That's what spring is for us, just trying to evaluate it all the time. There are a lot of pieces that go into these decisions; are we going to be more two-back? Are we going to be more one-back? Are we going to be a mixture? We're always going to be a mixture, but where's our emphasis? How much quarterback run? These are all things we have to make decisions on.
"That's what this is for. To really take a look at our talent level, to really match it up. But I'm encouraged.
"We're young up front. We're going to be playing up front this year with some guys who aren't even here yet. We're young, but the future with those guys, they're going to be good players."
Quarterback Darius Wade:
"The thing I'm most happy about is that I had improvement from the first scrimmage to the second one. The first scrimmage I had some jitters and I was trying to get myself settled. I came in today with a lot of intensity, the offense helped me out.
"I feel like my football IQ definitely has increased a lot. I feel I'm getting a better grasp of the offense and being able to run it more effectively, which is the most important thing.
"I like how versatile we (offense) are. We can get down in the trenches, power it up, just run it down the field or now we have the capability of spreading it out. I feel like we're very versatile and we have the ability to do multiple things."
