With Boston College on top, 38-36, North Carolina made a 13-4 run early in the second half to build a 49-42 lead. The Tar Heels led the rest of the way.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Boston College started the game with a 7-2 run, but a 7-0 run by North Carolina gave the Tar Heels an 11-9 lead at the 13:22 mark.
- A Brown 3-pointer and an and-one conversion by Hanlan broke a tie and gave the Eagles a 23-17 lead with 7:51 left in the half.
- The Tar Heels responded with nine unanswered points to take a 26-23 lead.
- The teams would go into the half tied, 36-36.
- North Carolina made a 13-4 run early in the second half to build a 49-42 lead, its largest lead of the game to that point.
- UNC was ahead, 69-57, before Boston College scored seven unanswered points to cut the lead to five points.
- The Tar Heels maintained that lead at 73-68 with 2:29 remaining and then rattled off six unanswered to seal the win.
