Three Eagles on Lacrosse Preseason All-ACC Squad

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College lacrosse captains--senior Covie Stanwick, junior Sarah Mannelly, and senior Mikaela Rix have been named to the 2015 Preseason All-ACC Team as announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference. Stanwick, Mannelly, and Rix were also coined Inside Lacrosse Preseason All Americans.The Eagles are predicted to finish fifth overall in the ACC in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.
BC was also ranked seventh national in the Inside Lacrosse Preseason Poll.
Student-athletes from seven of the eight ACC institutions were recognized on the Preseason All-ACC Team. Boston College and North Carolina each had three student-athletes selected to the Preseason All-ACC Team, tied for the most representatives.
As a junior, Covie Stanwick started 20 games at attack. She led the team in points with 91 and recorded a team-high 38 assists. The Baltimore, Md. native also earned IWLCA All-American Second Team accolades.
Last season as a sophomore, Sarah Mannelly started all 21 games at midfield. The New Canaan, Conn. native received Third-Team IWLCA All-Northeast Region honors and proved an integral part of the Eagles' success in the 2014 season.
Rix started as a midfielder in all of BC's 21 games last year. The Garden City, N.Y. native led the Eagles with 57 goals and 79 draw controls. Rix also tabbed IWLCA All-American First Team honors for the third consecutive season in 2014.
The Eagles, who compiled a stellar 15-6 record in 2014 and made the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year, earned 38 points in the coaches' vote.
2014 NCAA runner up Syracuse and North Carolina tied for first with 59 points.
Boston College kicks off the 2015 season at Johns Hopkins on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 1 p.m.
