BC TRAVELS TO PITTSBURGH TUESDAY
• Boston College will head to Pittsburgh Tuesday night for a 9 p.m. contest at the Petersen Events Center.
• The game will be televised on ESPNU with Tom Hart and Len Elmore on the call.
• This is the first time that the Eagles have played in Pittsburgh since the 2003-04 season and it is just their second time ever in the Petersen Events Center.
• The Panthers won the first meeting this season, 61-60 in overtime, back on January 6.
• Boston College has lost its last eight outings, including an 87-70 setback to #10/10 Notre Dame on Saturday at Conte Forum.
• Pitt has won five of its last seven games, most recently winning at Syracuse on Saturday, 65-61.
• The Panthers are 13-2 at home this season and they have won eight-straight games in the series.
NOTRE DAME TOPS BC AT HOME
• Graduate student Aaron Brown led all scorers with 22 points and added three assists as Boston College lost at home to #10/10 Notre Dame, 87-70, on Saturday evening.
• Junior Dennis Clifford recorded 17 points, six rebounds and four assists. His assists matched a career high and his points were two shy of his career best.
• Junior Olivier Hanlan scored 19 points while adding four rebounds.
• Notre Dame made the first run of the game when it scored nine unanswered points to take a 16-7 lead with 12:14 on the clock.
• Trailing by seven, Boston College went on a quick 8-2 run to cut its deficit to 26-25. Hanlan scored six of the points with a pair of 3-pointers.
• The Irish responded immediately with a 9-3 spurt that made it a 37-28 lead with 1:34 left in the half.
• Notre Dame held a 37-32 halftime lead.
• The Irish were ahead, 45-41, and then went on a 17-7 run to build their lead to 62-48 with 10:12 left in the game. The run lasted 5:14.
• The Eagles could not get it under double digits the rest of the way.
LAST TIME vs. PITTSBURGH
• Junior Olivier Hanlan recorded game highs with 18 points and eight rebounds while adding six assists as BC lost in overtime to Pitt, 61-60, on January 6 at Conte Forum.
• Fourteen of Hanlan's points came after halftime.
• Graduate student Aaron Brown added 11 points and three assists.
• Sophomore Garland Owens scored nine points which all came in the first half.
• Boston College opened the game with an 11-4 run over the first four minutes. Brown scored five of those points.
• Pittsburgh then went on an 18-7 run that lasted nearly 13 minutes to take a 22-18 lead.
• The Eagles responded by closing out the half with nine unanswered points to gain a 27-22 lead. Owens was the spark, scoring seven of the points in the final 2:56.
• Pittsburgh made a 10-2 run early in the second half to close its deficit to 33-32 with 11:25 left.
• BC held a 42-38 lead and then went on a quick 7-2 run to make it a 49-40 advantage with 3:54 remaining.
• With the BC lead at 53-43, the Panthers scored the final 10 points in regulation to force overtime. BC had a pair of chances to win on the final possession but could not connect.
• Five-straight points in overtime gave Boston College a 60-55 lead with 2:46 on the clock.
• Pitt cut the lead to 60-59 and then forced a BC turnover with 11 seconds left. Josh Newkirk drove the lane on the next possession and hit a layup for the game-winner.
HANLAN GETS HOT IN ACC PLAY
• Junior Olivier Hanlan turned up his play for the ACC season.
• He leads the ACC in scoring (21.3) and 3-pointers made (2.86), ranks second in 3-point percentage (.449), eighth in free throw percentage (.776) and 10th in field goal percentage (.476) during conference play.
• The Aylmer, Quebec product has scored 18 or more points in 10 of the 14 games and he has recorded four or more assists in 11 outings. He is averaging 26.2 points in his last six games.
• He is one of two players in the ACC to rank in the top 10 in scoring, assists and steals.
• He is also one of four players in the Power Five conferences to average 20 points in league play.
BROWN A STEADY PRESENCE
• Graduate student Aaron Brown is second on the team in scoring (15.1), third in assists (51) and fourth in rebounding (3.2).
• He has also hit the most foul shots (72) and the second-most 3-pointers (50) on the team.
• The fifth-year grad transfer from Southern Miss has scored in double figures in all but three games and he has 15 games of 15 or more points.
• He has scored 20 or more points five times, including a season-best 28 points against #10/9 Louisville.
• Brown ranks ninth in the ACC in scoring.
