Hernandez, Hughes Named Eagles of the Week

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior utility player Gabriel Hernandez (baseball) and sophomore guard Kelly Hughes (women's basketball) have been named Eagles of the Week.
Hernandez led the Eagles with eight hits, six RBIs and six runs in four games last week. He launched a three-run home run in the 14-7 victory over Xavier, the second of his career. He was one of four Eagles to record a hit in every game to start the season. He has started the season with a .364 batting average and a .545 on-base percentage. He also tallied a double and two stolen bases as the lead-off hitter.
Hughes recorded career highs with 32 points and seven 3-pointers as BC won at Wake Forest, 75-74. She also grabbed eight rebounds, had four assists and a career-high five steals in the win. The win was the first for BC against Wake Forest since the 2008 season. Hughes leads BC in scoring (14.9) and rebounding (7.0). She has moved into seventh place on the all-time 3-pointer list at BC with 138.
Baseball (2-2) has a three-game series at LSU this weekend. Women's basketball (12-13, 4-8 ACC) is at Syracuse on Thursday and hosts Florida State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
