No. 7/6 Lacrosse Opens Season at Johns Hopkins

Chestnut Hill, Mass. – No. 7/6 Boston College women’s lacrosse opens the 2015 season at Johns Hopkins Saturday, Feb. 14. The Eagles and the Blue Jays meet for the first time at 1 p.m. at Homewood Field.

Making History

Last season, the Eagles posted a program-best 15-6 record while going 3-4 in the competitive Atlantic Coast Conference.
Five of BC’s six losses came by a margin of two goals or less.
Boston College, under head coach Acacia Walker, made the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row in 2014.

Scouting the Blue Jays

Johns Hopkins starts the season at 1-0, coming off a double overtime victory vs. Marquette on Feb. 8.
Kristen Cannon and Alexis Maffucci, who netted the overtime game-winner, are the early scoring leaders for the Blue Jays with two goals each.
JHU is ranked 18^th in the IWLCA Poll and 17^th in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll after the first week of the season.

Season Openers

BC comes into its matchup vs. Johns Hopkins at its highest ranking to start the season.
The Eagles are 12-11 all time in season opening games.
Last year, Boston College trounced Notre Dame, 15-10, in South Bend, Ind. Mikaela Rix set career highs with six goals and seven points to lead the Eagles past the Fighting Irish.
