No. 7/6 Lacrosse Opens Season at Johns Hopkins

Chestnut Hill, Mass. – No. 7/6 Boston College women’s lacrosse opens the 2015 season at Johns Hopkins Saturday, Feb. 14. The Eagles and the Blue Jays meet for the first time at 1 p.m. at Homewood Field.

Making History
- Last season, the Eagles posted a program-best 15-6 record while going 3-4 in the competitive Atlantic Coast Conference.
- Five of BC’s six losses came by a margin of two goals or less.
- Boston College, under head coach Acacia Walker, made the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row in 2014.
Scouting the Blue Jays
- Johns Hopkins starts the season at 1-0, coming off a double overtime victory vs. Marquette on Feb. 8.
- Kristen Cannon and Alexis Maffucci, who netted the overtime game-winner, are the early scoring leaders for the Blue Jays with two goals each.
- JHU is ranked 18th in the IWLCA Poll and 17th in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll after the first week of the season.
Season Openers
- BC comes into its matchup vs. Johns Hopkins at its highest ranking to start the season.
- The Eagles are 12-11 all time in season opening games.
- Last year, Boston College trounced Notre Dame, 15-10, in South Bend, Ind. Mikaela Rix set career highs with six goals and seven points to lead the Eagles past the Fighting Irish.
