BC HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES

• The end of regulation was delayed four approximately 30-40 minutes after a lighting fixture on the ceiling of Germain Arena needed to be replaced.
TURNING POINT
• Boston College killed off a five-minute major to Alex Tuch late in the first period as each club went scoreless through the first 40 minutes until Teddy Doherty ended the defensive standoff. Providence scored a pair 44 seconds apart midway through the third and never looked back.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Boston College and Providence played scoreless hockey for the first 46:56 of regulation before each team scored two minutes and 11 seconds within one another in the third period.
Chris Calnan capitalized off of a Friar turnover at the top of PC's zone and quickly turned it up to Teddy Doherty waiting in the slot. With time, Doherty wired a wrist shot top shelf at 6:56 to curb the scoring drought and give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.
Shortly after BC's opening marker early in the third, Steve Santini was cited for interference at 7:44 of third and Nick Saracino capitalized off the one-timer at 9:07. Providence worked the zone and John Gilmour sent the feed along the top of the blue line where Saracino awaited the puck to smash it to the back of the net to tie it, 1-1, on the power play.
Forty-four seconds later, Brandon Tanev gave the Friars their first lead of the day at 9:51 of the third frame. Josh Monk fired a blast from the point and Tanev was positioned in front of BC's crease and able to redirect the disc past Thatcher Demko to take the 2-1 lead.
A 4-on-4 situation arose at 11:25 of the third period but neither team could find the back of the net with the extra real estate.
The end of regulation took a wild turn after head coach Jerry York lifted Demko for the extra skater with approximately a minute left in regulation.
Providence's Anthony Florentino was called for roughing with 46.2 seconds left to give Boston College the 6-on-4 advantage. Scott Savage sent a shot on PC goaltender Nick Ellis and it appeared Ryan Fitzgerald was able to paddle back in off the rebound on the far post with 8.2 seconds left, but due to a lack of video replay, the officials were not able to review it and deem it a good goal.
Amidst the commotion over the apparent tying goal, a light fixture within Germain Arena experienced a mechanical problem, causing roughly a 30-minute delay. Once the issue was resolved, fresh ice was made and the two teams skated back out to finish regulation.
The faceoff occurred to Ellis' right, but BC could not muster a shot and ultimately fell, 2-1, in Tuesday's consolation.
