HIGHLIGHTS
The Eagles won in extra points in the opening frame over No. 15 Louisville, but the Cardinals fought back to win the next three sets and take the match Wednesday afternoon at Power Gym. Katty Workman led BC with 15 kills, but the top school in the ACC standings were too much.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One:
In the first of two sets on the afternoon to go to extra points, it was a Madisen Lydon service ace that game BC the early 1-0 lead after the Eagles fought hard to win the set 29-27. The frame, which saw 16 tied scores and four lead changes, was back and forth the entire set. However, after Julia Topor even it at 27-all for the Eagles, a Cardinal's attack error set up Lydon's service ace.
Set Two:
Much like the first set, the second featured 10 tied scores and five lead changes that too went down to the wire. The Eagles battled back from a deficit at the midway point to even the score at 16 apiece, but a 4-0 run late in the set propelled Louisville to a 25-23 victory to even the match score at one heading into the break.
Set Three:
Louisville took the third set 25-17 after the Black and Red finished on an 8-2 run to close out the frame.
Set Four:
Boston College once again forced extra points in the set, but back-to-back kills from Maggie DeJong helped the visiting squad take victory over the Eagles. Louisville jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never trailed in the set, and despite the Maroon and Gold's effort to tie the score 10 different times, they couldn't regain the lead in the losing effort. In the fourth set, Workman and freshman McKenna Goss each had two kills before Louisville took the set 26-24.
UP NEXT:
Notre Dame comes to town on Friday at 1 p.m. as the Eagles close out their season at Power Gym. It will be the final game for the Eagles five seniors: Franny Hock, Kam McLain, Sarah Mendes, Mallori Moffat and Katty Workman.
