
Enstrom's Golden Goal Sends Eagles to Sweet 16

Simon Enstrom netted his ninth goal of the season to send Boston College to the round of the Sweet 16

TURNING POINT
• Simon Enstrom buried a tic-tac-toe play triggered by Trevor Davock and set up by Zeiko Lewis in the 98th minute and first session of overtime. South Florida was issued a red card in the 26th minute giving BC a man advantage for the duration of the match. An Isaac Normesinu tally in the 74th minute gave the Eagles the early advantage but the Bulls countered in the 89th minute to force overtime. Enstrom's ninth goal of the season sealed the Eagles spot in the round of the Sweet 16.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Boston College dominated the first half, recording three grade-A shots on net and did not allow South Florida a shot in the opening 45 minutes.
• In the 14th minute, Simon Enstrom blasted a shot at the top of the box through traffic but was thwarted by USF goaltender Spasoie Stefanovic.
• Enstrom logged his second shot on net from out deep on a feed from Zeiko Lewis across from the right side of the pitch.
• Boston College gained a huge advantage in the 26th minute when USF's Lindo Mfeka was issued a yellow card and moments later, was shown a red card to give the Eagles a man advantage the rest of the game.
• Five minutes after the USF infraction, Idriss Bangura was robbed a goal by offering a chip shot from close range but Stefanovic made another huge stop by blocking the shot with his right hand extended while sprinting to his left.
• In the 34th minute, Henry Balf sent a through ball from the top of the box to Lewis
but Lewis' blast sailed high to keep the first half scoreless.
• Enstrom registered a strong header on a cross from Trevor Davock in the 57th minute, giving way to two more shots from Lewis and Mohammed Moro in the 61st minute but neither attempts were on net.
• The Eagles continued to build momentum and finally broke through in the 74th minute – Atobra Ampadu crossed the ball from the right side of the box to Isaac Normesinu on the near post. Normesinu gathered it with little pressure and sent the ball to the top of the net at 73:24 for the 1-0 Eagles advantage.
• The Bulls nearly tied it on a set piece in the 84th minute after Ampadu was issued a yellow card. South Florida hesitated on the free kick and blasted it towards BC netminder Alex Kapp and the ball ricocheted off an Eagle and sailed only a couple feet high of the crossbar.
• USF maintained kept its foot on the gas and tied it in the 89th minute. Kendan Anderson sent a low pass from the left side of the box to the front of the net where Prosper Figbe one-touched it through to the back of the net to knot it, 1-1, at 88:18.
• The Bulls forced overtime but Boston College went back on the offensive and Simon Enstrom buries a low pass from Lewis in the 98th minute. Davock sent a ball in to the 18' where Lewis quickly relayed it over to Enstrom for the low missile that crossed up Stefanovic to the lower left corner of the net to seal victory for the Eagles in the first overtime period.
