Game Notes

Team
- Boston College is now 3-5 against Louisville in the all-time series, 0-2 in ACC meetings and 1-3 in Louisville.
- The Cardinals scored 17 points in the first half, 10 against the BC defense, but came up scoreless in the second half.
- The BC defense recorded seven sacks in the contest, a season high and the second most in BC history. The Eagles tallied eight sacks three times in program history.
- Boston College recorded a season-high 16Â tackles for a loss. It was the third time in 2015 the Eagles recorded double-digit TFLs and sixth time in the last two years. It was the most TFLs since tallying 16 against Southern Cal on Sept. 13, 2014.
- The BC defense created five turnovers (2 INT, 2 FF, 1 blocked punt), the most since recording five in a 24-14 victory over Villanova on Aug. 31, 2013 in Chestnut Hill (3 INT, 2 FF).
- The Eagles tallied 79 total offense yards in the game. The last time BC was held to under 100 yards was when Clemson allowed just 54 on Sept. 19, 2009.
- Freshman QB Jeff Smith fumbled in the second quarter, resulting in a 46-yard return for a touchdown. It was the second time BC surrendered a fumble return for a TD in 2015 after sophomore RB Jon Hilliman fumbled against No. 9/6 Florida State on Sept. 18.
Offense
- Freshman QB Jeff Smith went 5-for-11 for 47 yards in his second career start. He ran for an eight-yard touchdown in the third quarter, his fifth rushing TD of the season.
- Redshirt QB Troy Flutie replaced Smith at the end of the third quarter. He went 4-for-11 for 46 yards.
- Freshman WR Elijah Robinson scored his first career touchdown by returning the blocked punt 12 yards in the second quarter.
- Freshman OL Aaron Monteiro and redshirt freshman OL James Hendren made their first career starts.
Defense
- Boston College allowed over 100 rushing yards in back-to-back games for the first time since Louisville (Nov. 8) and Florida State (Nov. 22) in season. The Eagles have not allowed opponents over 100 rushing yards in 13 of the last 21 games.
- Senior LB Steven Daniels set a career high with four tackles for a loss while he matched his career high of two sacks
- Junior DB John Johnson set a career high with 11 tackles, including eight solo stops.
- Senior DB Justin Simmons recorded his second interception of the season and fifth of his career. It was his second straight week with an interception.
- Senior DL Connor Wujciak forced a fumble with three minutes to play in the third quarter and sophomore DL Harold Landry returned it 34 yards to the Louisville six-yard line. It was Wujciak's first force of the season, third of his career, and Landry's first career recovery.
Special Teams
- Junior DB John Johnson blocked Louisville's John Appleby punt attempt late in the second quarter for the first of his career and the third of the season for the Eagles. Robinson returned it 12 yards for a score, marking the first BC blocked kick returned for a TD since Nov. 1, 2008 when Justin Jarvis blocked a punt against Clemson and Roderick Rollins returned it 25 yards in a 27-21 loss in Chestnut Hill.
- Senior K/P Alex Howell set career highs in both punt attempts (12) and yards (507). His previous high of 10 punt attempts was achieved twice, with the last at Clemson on Oct. 17, 2015 while the previous yardage of 501 was accomplished on Oct. 18, 2014 vs. Clemson.
- Sophomore kicker Mike Knoll was 2-2 in point after attempts
