HOCKEY EAST PLAY NOW UNDERWAY
Boston College is set to open Hockey East play this weekend, hosting Maine on Saturday and New Hampshire on Sunday ... this is the 14th year of the HEA women's league ... BC is 153-86-28 all-time in Hockey East play, winning two regular-season crowns (2013-14, 2014-15) and one tournament title (2011).
SIGHTS SET HIGH IN LEAGUE PLAY
Boston College was the unanimous choice to win the 2015-16 Hockey East crown, claiming all eight available first-place votes from the league's other eight head coaches ... in 2014-15, BC was picked to finish second in the preseason poll and went on to a 20-0-1 mark in league play ... the Eagles posted the conference's first undefeated season since 2007-08 when New Hampshire also went 20-0-1.
STREAK'S STILL STRONG IN HOCKEY EAST
BC starts the 2015-16 conference season riding a 25-game undefeated streak in Hockey East regular-season play that dates back to the 2013-14 season ... the Eagles' last loss in league play was Feb. 8, 2014, a 2-0 setback at Connecticut ... since that loss, BC is 24-0-1 in regular-season action, including last year's 20-0-1 season ... since the start of the 2012-13 season, BC is 55-4-3 in regular-season Hockey East games.
POWER PLAY KICKING INTO GEAR
So far this season, BC is 5-for-18 on the power play for a .278 mark ... Alex Carpenter (2), Megan Keller (2) and Haley Skarupa have all scored with the man-advantage this season ... BC has scored at least one power-play goal in three of the team's four games, scoring a season-high three PPGs against St. Lawrence on Oct. 11 ... the Eagles are tied with Clarkson for fifth nationally in PP effectiveness as Minnesota (.600), Northeastern (.364), St. Cloud State (.357) and Merrimack (.333) are ranked Nos. 1-4 ... individually, both Carpenter and Keller are tied for the national lead with two PPGs each.
PENALTY KILL ON POINT
BC's penalty kill is a perfect 12-for-12 on the season so far ... the Eagles have averaged three penalties per game, but have killed off each of their opponents' 12 changes with the man advantage ... in the 12 power-play chances against them this year, the Eagles have only surrendered 14 shots ... the Eagles are one of five teams nationally with a perfect PK, joining Clarkson (14/14), UConn (10/10), Mercyhurst (2/2) and Minnesota (8/8).
