2015 Perfect Game Preseason All-Americans
Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College junior Chris Shaw earned a spot on the Perfect Game's Preseason All-American First Team, the outlet announced on Friday. The right fielder was also named to Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America Second Team in December.
The Lexington, Mass., native led BC in most offensive categories and ranked in the Atlantic Coast Conference's top 10 in four offensive categories, including tying for third in doubles and RBIs. After a successful summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League, Shaw earned All-League honors as well. He led the league with eight home runs, ranked second with 34 RBIs and tied for second with 10 doubles.
In 2014, Shaw earned All-ACC first-team honors and was named to the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-New England team and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Northeast first team. He led the Eagles in 10 offensive categories including batting average (.329), slugging percentage (.502), hits (68), RBIs (45), doubles (18) and home runs (6). His .322 batting clip in league play was good for sixth in the conference.
Shaw did not make an error in 105 chances in right field and he tallied five outfield assists. His 18 doubles tied for eighth in BC's single-season record books, while his six sacrifice flies tied for second. He also recorded a 16-game hit streak in 2014, which ranked third in history. The junior ended the season with at least one hit in 22 of the final 24 games.
