Westphal Earns ACC XC Performer of the Week

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Senior Liv Westphal has earned ACC Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week. The Limoges, France native has been honored for her stellar performance at the 2014 Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown last Friday.
Westphal finished first overall in the women’s 5K in a field of 207 runners with a time of 16:30.0, 21 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Her 16:30.0 finish time is a new meet record and one of the best 5K times in the Franklin Park course’s history.
With her first place finish, Westphal helped lead No. 17 Boston College to a fourth-place team finish in a field of 21 nationally and regionally ranked teams.
This is Westphal’s third ACC Performer of the Week award during her Boston College career. She was awarded the accolade twice last year on Sep. 17, 2013 for her performance at the UMass Invitational (16:58.0) and Oct. 1, 2013 for her performance at last year’s Battle in Beantown (17:00.0),
Westphal will return to action in Madison, Wis. For the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational on Oct. 17.
