The Boston College softball team lost fell to Virginia Tech, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon at Tech Softball Park in Blacksburg. The second game of the double-header was delayed and will continue tomorrow with the Eagles down, 5-3, in the sixth inning.

Boston College is now 15-11 overall and 2-5 in the ACC. Virginia Tech improved to 18-14 overall and 7-6 in the conference.

In the first game, Boston College took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning. Alana Dimaso and Taylor Coroneos both singled. The two runners advanced on a wild pitch.

With one out and two on, Jordan Weed singled up the middle for the Eagles. The Hokies tied the game at, 2-2, in the fourth inning on a two-run home run by Amanda Ake.

After both teams went scoreless in the fifth inning, Boston College got on the board with one run in the sixth. A one-out double by Nicole D'Argento set up the run. After pop out by Tory Speer, Dimaso singled to center to knock in pinch-runner Nicole Koszowski for the lead.

D'Argento gave up a lead-off double to Tech's Lauren Wolff in the sixth. An RBI single by Logan Spaw tied the game at, 3-3. Pinch runner Aysha Richardson scored when Michelle Prong hit a single up the middle. It proved to be the game-winning run.

D'Argento took the loss on the mound as she went six innings, gave up nine hits and struck out three.

A DiMaso had two singles and an RBI, while Jordan Weed had one hit with two RBI. Virginia Tech's Maggie Tyler earned the win to improve to 9-4. She gave up six hits and struck out six.

Boston College will finish the second game from today's double-header on Sunday afternoon, before playing the final game of the three-game series against the Hokies. On Monday, the Eagles will travel to Amherst to play at UMass at 4 p.m.
