BC HIGHLIGHTS
Sophomore Olivier Hanlan scored a game-high 25 points, going 10-for-15 from the floor. He also dished out three assists.
Hanlan became the 41st player in Boston College history to reach 1,000 points. He is just the third player to do it in his sophomore season.
Junior Patrick Heckmann scored 15 points for the second game in a row. He added four rebounds.
Junior Ryan Anderson recorded 10 points, five rebounds and three steals.
TURNING POINT
Pittsburgh went on a 21-4 run early in the first half to take a lead that Boston College could not come back from.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Boston College started the game with a quick 7-2 run, but Pittsburgh responded with a 21-4 run over the next six minutes to build a 23-11 lead.
The Pitt lead reached as many as 15 points with 5:24 left, but the Eagles brought the deficit down to 35-26 at the break.
With the Panthers leading 42-29, BC scored eight unanswered points over 2:15 to cut the lead to 42-37.
Hanlan brought the Eagles closer, to 49-45 with 8:51 left, with a pair of free throws. Pitt's Talib Zanna scored the next four points in the game to build the advantage back up to 53-45.
BC never got closer than five points the rest of the way.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Sophomore Olivier Hanlan became the third player in Boston College history to reach 1,000 points in his sophomore season. Troy Bell and Craig Smith were the others and they are first and second in career scoring at BC, respectively.
Troy Bell, the first player to accomplish the feat, scored his 1,000th point exactly 13 years ago on February 26, 2001 against Morris Brown.
Hanlan is the 29th ACC player to reach the 1,000-point plateau as a sophomore. He has 1,018 career points which ranks 39th at BC.
The Eagles had 22 points off turnovers compared to Pittsburgh's nine.
