Three Eagles Earn All-ACC Honors
November 05, 2014 | Field Hockey
Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Three Boston College field hockey players have been named to 2014 All-ACC Teams. Senior midfielder Emma Plasteras has earned All-ACC First Team honors--her third consecutive year tabbing All-ACC accolades--while junior midfielder Romée Stiekema and junior goalkeeper Leah Settipane have been named to the All-ACC Second Team. This is the first All-ACC honor for both Stiekema and Settipane.
"We know within our program the impact and contributions that all three players bring to the team. It is such a compliment to the team and the individual players that the ACC coaching group also feels their importance and applauds that with this award," said head coach Ainslee Lamb.

Plasteras, a captain on this year's BC squad, is currently third on the team with 21 points on six goals and nine assists. Her nine assists is tied for sixth in the conference and she has sole possession of sixth in assists per game (.53). One of Plasteras' goals was the game-winner in the Eagles' 3-2 double shootout win against No. 2 Connecticut on Sep. 14.
"For Emma to receive this recognition one year is an honor, but accomplishing this accolade three years in a row is just plain impressive," said Lamb.
Stiekema has five points on one goal and three assists. She scored the game-winning overtime goal against Syracuse in the Eagles' 3-2 OT win over the Orange on Sep. 20.
"I am excited for Romée's growth and development in the last year and her performance as one of the top midfielders in the ACC has contributed to our team's success and ability to win key games," said Lamb.

Settipane leads the Atlantic Coast conference in saves (108) and saves per game (5.72). The junior goalkeeper has recorded a 1.65 goals against average through October and ranks third in the ACC in save percentage (.769).
"Leah has consistently put us in position to compete among the best in the country by making critical saves in big games and leading our defensive unit from the start of the season to now," Lamb said.
All seven of the league's teams are represented on the All-ACC squad, led by six student-athletes from top-ranked North Carolina. No. 9 Boston College, No. 7 Duke, No. 6 Syracuse, No. 13 Virginia, and No. 11 Wake Forest all had three players garner accolades, while No. 8 Louisville had two players honored.
