Rowing Welcomes Seven Members In August

Head rowing Coach Steve Fiske and his staff will welcome seven new additions to campus for the fall of 2015. BC concluded a very strong Fall season with top three finishes in every event of the Foot of the Charles (3rd in the Varsity 8, 1st in the Varsity 4 and 3rd in the Novice 8).
"This group will bring a considerable amount of experience and passion for rowing to Boston College. We are looking forward to their impact on the program over the next four years," said head rowing coach Steve Fiske.
Arriving to BC in August will be Madison Cann (Wilmington, De.), Isabelle Daellenbach (Winnetka, Ill.), Katherine DeVlieger (Merion Station, Pa.), Kelsey Lally (Radnor, Pa.), Meaghan McDonald (Newton, Mass.), Lauren Michelson (New York, N.Y.), Paige Vignone (Demarest, N.J.). The seven incoming freshmen will join a team with a strong foundation set by the 2014-15 team.
Madison Cann rowed at Wilmington Youth Rowing Association. Her team place first in the V8+ and V4+ at the 2014 Baltimore Invitational. She also competed in the V8+ at USRowing Youth Nationals 2014. Cann is a four-year Scholar with Honors and 2014 leader of the Senior Mentorship Program at Tower Hill. Her father is an alumnus of Boston College, class of 1984.
"From the moment I saw it, BC just felt like the right place for me. The more I learned about the programs and the way I could balance my passion for athletics with a strong education, it was just the perfect fit."
Isabelle Daellenbach competed at Club Nationals 2014 for Southeast Juniors Development Camp in a Women's Varsity 8+ and a Women's Varsity 4+. At the Midwest Scholastic Championship her team earned a first place finish in the First Varsity 8+ for three straight years. Daellenbach is a member of the Honor Roll and the German National Honor Society.
"I was looking for a school that offered strong academics with the opportunity to row on a competitive team. The Jesuit tradition of educating the whole person, the emphasis on social service and the strong core curriculum were some of the most important reasons why I chose BC."
Katherine DeVlieger rowed and won Gold at Stotesbury, two Golds at Navy Day Regatta and Gold at Miami International Regatta among many other medals. DeVlieger was the recipient of 2015 Junior class "Hammer Award" for fastest 2k erg time. The future Eagle is currently a member of Student Council and the President of Women for Life and Love Club.
"I chose Boston College because I know I will be able to thrive both athletically and academically. I am very excited to row on the historic Charles River and to experience everything both Boston College and Boston have to offer."
Kelsey Lally is a three-year varsity letter member of the rowing team as well as a four-year varsity winner on the basketball team. Lally is an honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society.
"BC offers both the academics and athletics I was looking for while finding the college best for me. I look forward to continuing my rowing career for another four years with BC's women's program."
Meaghan McDonald is a local athlete who will join the Eagles after placing 21st in the Womens 4+ Head of the Charles in 2014, 13th in the Womens youth 4+ at Youth Nationals in 2013 and 4th in Womens 4x Northeast Regionals in 2014, McDonald was also a Varsity Volleyball player in 2011. She is also an Honor Roll student and AP scholar.
"I chose BC because of the strong feeling of community on campus. Everyone I met on campus was excited to be at BC and to be a part of the community."
Lauren Michelson is a three year member of the First Honor Roll and a National Honors Society member since 2013. Michaelson was awarded as a College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar based on high school merit and high PSAT score.
"I chose BC for the campus, the sense of community, the athletic spirit, the marketing program at CSOM, and for being close to Boston."
Paige Vignone took second place at the US Rowing Youth National Championships in the 2014 C Final. Vignone is also heavily involved outside of rowing, she is a member of the National Honor Society, the National French Honor Society, the Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society, and the NY State Scholastic Rowing Association.
