West Virginia outscored Boston College, 33-16, over an 11-minute span in the second half to build a 65-58 lead with 2:36 left.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Boston College made the first significant run of the game when it rattled off 11-straight points over 4:35 to build a 20-8 lead with 9:16 left in the first half. Brown scored four of the points in the run.
- West Virginia responded with a 9-2 run of its own to cut the lead to 22-17.
- The Eagles were ahead, 25-20, and ended the half on a 7-1 run to build a 32-21 lead. Sophomore Will Magarity hit a 3-pointer to close out the half.
- West Virginia made its push when BC was up 42-32. The Mountaineers outscored the Eagles, 33-16, in an 11:32 span to take a 65-58 lead with 2:36 remaining.
- BC fought back by scoring the next six points to cut the deficit to one with 50 seconds left, but Devin Williams converted on a 3-point play on the ensuing possession and would hang on for the win.
