November 20, 2014 | Football
Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College has been very successful in the run game the last two seasons under head coach Steve Addazio.
Andre Williams, a fourth-round draft pick by the New York Giants, set BC and Atlantic Coast Conference single-season records, earned the Doak Walker Award for the best running back in the nation and was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2013.
This year, the Eagles rank 11th in the nation in rushing yards while quarterback Tyler Murphy broke the BC record for career rushing yards by a QB and is on pace to shatter the ACC single-season record. Freshman Jon Hilliman is moving up BC's single-season list for rushing touchdowns as he currently sits in second with 11 on the season. Sophomores Myles Willis and Tyler Rouse continue to contribute, while freshman Richard Wilson makes strides in his first season.
Running backs coach Al Washington talks about the success of the backs, what Williams did for the program and the emergence of the core group of young dual-threat backs.
