Softball Welcomes Five for the 2016 Season

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College softball team will add five freshmen to the roster for the 2016 season, head coach Ashley Obrest announced Wednesday as the incoming class signed National Letters of Intent.
Lexi DiEmmanuele, Kendra Friedt, Ally Moore, Carly Severini, and Danielle Thomas will become Eagles next season, along with the 15 returning players.
Lexi DiEmmanuele hails from Weston, Florida and will come to The Heights from Cypress Bay High School. The outfielder helped her team to District Championship titles her freshman, sophomore, and junior years. In 2013 and 2014, DiEmmanuele and her team were crowned Regional Champions and were State Runners up and reached the State Final Four, respectively. The outfielder recorded a career-high .500 batting average her junior year, accounting for 39 runs, 26 stolen bases, and 10 RBIs. The Weston, Florida native was First Team All-County ('12, '13, '14), First Team 8A All-State ('12, '14), Second Team 8A All-State ('13), and First Team All-American ('12). DiEmmanuele also plays travel ball for the Gold Coast Hurricanes.
Kendra Friedt hails from Southington, Conn. A pitcher for Southington High School, Friedt helped her team to back-to-back Class LL State Championships ('13, '14). Friedt also earned 2014 Class LL State Championship MVP. She had a banner year her junior season, going 24-0, compiling an earned run average of 0.33 and striking out 256 batters in 148 innings. Friedt's strikeout total broke the single-season school record previously set in 1983. The pitcher earned All-CCC, Class LL Coaches All-State, 2014 Register State Player of the Year, and Student Sports Second Team All-American. In addition to pitching for Southington HS, Friedt also plays travel ball for the New Jersey Intensity.
Ally Moore, a Clayton, N.J. native, joins the Eagles from Clayton High School. The catcher is a three-year captain and a two-time First-Team All-Conference honoree. Moore also earned Second Team All-State Group One. She was voted one of the top ten catchers in New Jersey by the Star Ledger and named to the Carpenter Cup Team. Moore recorded her 100th hit as a junior and holds the school record for hits (110 as of the 2014 season). In addition to playing for Clayton High School, Moore also plays travel ball for the New Jersey Intensity.
Carly Severini will join the Eagles from North Hunterdon High School. Severini, a shortstop from Clinton, N.J., recorded a career-best .432 batting average as a junior. She had a .491 on base percentage and 21 RBIs on the season. Severini also earned First Team All-Group 4, First Team All-West Jersey, Third Team All-State, First Team All-Area, First Team All-County, and First Team All-Conference during the 2014 season. In addition to playing for her high school, the Clinton, N.J. native also plays travel ball for the New Jersey Intensity.
Danielle Thomas comes to The Heights from Moraga, Calif. The middle infielder plays high school softball for Campolindo High School and travel ball for the All American Sports Academy. Thomas batted .432 her junior year and earned a .532 on base percentage. The Moraga, Calif. Native won back-to-back Most Valuable Defensive player and earned Conference All Star honors during her career at Campolindo High School.
