Six New Eagles to Join BCFH in 2015

Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The Boston College field hockey team will add six freshmen to the roster for the 2015 season, head coach Ainslee Lamb announced on Thursday as the incoming class signed National Letters of intent.
Elizabeth Dennehy, Kaitlyn Fink, Kayla Forrey, Ymke Rose Gote, Carly Kauffman, and Lucy Lytle will sport the Maroon and Gold next season, along with the 18 returning Eagles who made the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year in 2014, compiling a 13-6 record before the tournament kicks off on Nov. 15.
Dennehy will come to the Heights from Weston, Mass. The midfielder played for Weston High School, amassing 81 goals and 47 assists during her career. She has also participated in various USA Field Hockey opportunities including Futures Elite Academy (’13, ’14, ’15) and the National Futures Championship (’10-’14). Dennehy was captain during her junior and senior years at Weston High School and earned NFHCA High School All-American and All-Region her junior year. In addition to playing field hockey at Weston High, Dennehy was a two-time Dual Country League All Star Selection for varsity ice hockey (’12, ’13) and a two-time captain for the varsity lacrosse team (’14, ’15).
“I chose Boston College because the campus, coaches, and players provided me with a great sense of community. I want to be challenged academically as well as have the opportunity to compete against the top teams in the country,” said Dennehy.
Fink, a midfielder/forward from Mohnton, Penn., will join the Eagles from Mifflin Senior High, where she had 39 goals and 28 assists throughout her career. Fink earned First-Team All Division Honors her freshman and junior years and All-Berks County her sophomore year. Fink was a captain during her senior year at Mifflin and earned Pennsylvania All-State Second Team honors her junior year. She was also selected to the Junior Olympics as a freshman and sophomore.
“I chose BC because I loved the campus, coaching staff, and team. I am very excited and grateful to get the opportunity to play for such a competitive team while getting a great education,” said Fink.
Forrey hails from Mount Joy, Penn. and will join the Eagles at midfield next season. Forrey, a captain her junior and senior years, amassed 32 goals and 12 assists at Donegal High School. Her junior year, Forrey earned LL League First Team All-Star, All-League, and All-State. Forrey also played for OD Clan Field Hockey Club (’11-’13) and Sutter’s Brigade (’13-’15). In addition to playing field hockey at Donegal High School, Forrey played two years of varsity softball and ran varsity track & field.
“The beautiful campus, the exceptional academics, and the elite field hockey program are some of the many things that attracted me to Boston College. I am so thrilled to be an Eagle and I cannot wait to step foot on campus next fall,” said Forrey.
Gote will be joining the Eagles from Amstelveen, Netherlands. Gote attended Keizer Karel College before coming to the Heights next year. The midfielder was a captain for Pinoke Meisjes B1 U17 and Pinoke Meisjes A1 U19. She helped her teams to two Dutch National Championships and was a National Club Champion with the Penn Lanco Field Hockey Club in 2011. Gote also played on the USA U17 team (‘11) and the Dutch U19 team (‘12).
“When I first stepped on the campus of BC, it just felt right. I had a connection with the field hockey coaches and the girls on the team. The opportunity to be at a school that highly values academics and athletics is exciting. I think I will have a great experience here, academically and athletically,” said Gote.
Kauffman will also bolster the Eagles’ midfield next season. The Fleetwood, Penn. native will join Boston College from Oley Valley High School, where she was a captain her senior year. Her junior year, Kauffman led the team with 24 goals and 12 assists and earned All-State Second Team Honors. In her senior year, the midfielder amassed 32 goals and 17 assists, giving her a career total of 67 goals and 33 assists. Kauffman also played with the Xcalibur Field Hockey Club for nine years and was a member of USA U-19 National Indoor Team. In addition to playing field hockey, Kauffman played two years of varsity basketball at Oley Valley High School.
“The reason I chose Boston College was because of the school’s rigorous academics, the outstanding coaches, a very welcoming team, the school’s proximity to a vibrant city, the beautiful campus, and the opportunity to play Division I field hockey in the most competitive conference in the country which is the ACC,” said Kauffman.
Lytle played four years of varsity field hockey at Deerfield Academy as a midfield/forward, where she was a captain her senior year. Lytle had 24 points on ten goals and four assists in her senior year, totaling 40 goals and 16 assists in her career. Her junior year, Lytle was named to the NEPSAC Class A All-Tournament Team in addition to being selected a NEPSAC All-Star. Lytle was selected to the National Futures Championship in 2013 and 2014 and was a member of the 2013 Junior Olympic Gold Medal team. In addition to playing field hockey, Lytle also played varsity ice hockey and lacrosse at Deerfield Academy.
“I am so excited and proud to join such a well-regarded team and coaching staff. It is an honor to play field hockey at the highest level with some of the best players in the country. I can’t wait to start my academic and athletic career at BC,” said Lytle.
