Q&A With John Cain Carney
November 01, 2014 | Men's Basketball
What did you do this summer on and off the court?
"We had workouts with the new coaches every week. Off the court, I worked at the library. It was pretty mundane but I earned a little money."
What were some of the things you focused on in the offseason?
"I tried to focus on changing my mentality; working on being more aggressive, playing hard and being more positive with my teammates and myself. That was something we all worked on."
What are some adjustments you have had to make to the new coaching staff?
"The biggest adjustment has been the attention to detail; playing defense the way they want it to be played."
Use three words to describe a Jim Christian practice.
"Energized. Quick. Focused."
What does the team need to do to become more successful?
"I think we need to work on having complete focus every day. I think we lose focus occasionally and we can't do that."
Why do you wear #13?
"I just always liked the way the numbers looked next to each other. I also like Steve Nash. My dad always tried to get me to change my number because he thinks it's bad luck but I can't do it."
What are you looking forward to the most in the next 13 days?
"I'm looking forward to us coming closer together and I'm excited to see how the new look Eagles do against New Hampshire."
