Football Prepare for NC State
October 07, 2014 | Football
Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College football team was back on the practice field on Tuesday preparing for its bout with NC State, slated for Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
The Eagles (3-2, 0-1 ACC) will have to contend with the Wolfpack's (4-2, 0-2 ACC) mobile quarterback, Jacoby Brissett, who they did not face in the 38-21 victory last year. Brissett transferred from the University of Florida and could not play the 2013 season due to NCAA rules. Members of the BC defense spoke after practice and explained they are ready to face the Wolfpack offense.
Sophomore DB John Johnson
On his first career start...
"This [will be] my first career start. I just want to pick up where the defense left off. I'll be on the outside corner now, still in the nickel, but I'll just be in for more snaps."
On playing on the road...
"We just have to go out and steal one on the road. It's our first true road game, so I know it's going to be hostile. We have to come together as a team and get the win. I don't want to change anything about Coach Brown's game plan, I just want to fit into it."
Senior DB Manuel Asprilla
On the young players stepping up...
"We have players who are younger who weren't just sitting around doing nothing. They are on their stuff. We're all great players; we all have the same abilities. We have people ready to step up."
On teammate John Johnson...
"He's ready to play. It's all about confidence. He just has to come in and know that he's going to get the job done."
On NC State...
"Going into this week, I was watching a little bit of their film and watching their players. We played against them last year. It's almost the same team from last year, except the quarterback. He's really good, but we just have to go out there. It's going to be a great game. They're going to come out battling; we're going to come out battling. It just comes down to who wants it more."
On NC State quarterback Jacoby Brissett...
"He's a great player. He can run, but we see that every week, so it's no different than any other player we've faced. We just have to come out and play the same way we play every game."
On running back Jon Hilliman...
"As a freshman, he has stepped up and he's been playing very hard. I have no doubt in my mind that he's going to do what he has to do to get the job done. We have great backs. Every back we have is great. Just to see them come in and really want to play; I like that.
"I'm not surprised by the way [Hilliman has] come out and played. I expected it. I see him and the way he is and he's not a flashy person. Even before we played any games just watching him run hard in practice I said, `He's going to be a great back.'"
