Men's Soccer Ties Brown, 1-1
October 14, 2014 | Men's Soccer
BABSON PARK, Mass. - Senior Cole DeNormandie scored the equalizer in the 82nd minute to help the Boston College men's soccer team to a 1-1 draw against Brown on Tuesday afternoon at Babson's Hartwell-Rogers Field.
DeNormandie scored the goal 41 seconds after Brown's Louis Zingas notched the match's first goal in the 81st minute. Junior Dylan Pritchard was credited with an assist on the goal. It was DeNormandie's first goal of the season and Pritchard's first assist.
After a shaky start to the match for BC, the Eagles settled in and earned a 4-2 advantage in shots in the half. Sophomore Zeiko Lewis blasted a shot from 18 yards out at the 25:30 mark, but his attempt was saved by the Brown keeper who dove to his left.
With eight minutes left in the half, a Brown foul near midfield gave Lewis a free kick. He hit a low liner into the far side of the box that Pritchard got a head on, but that was also saved.
BC nearly broke the scoreless match 15 minutes into the second half. Lewis set up for a corner kick and sent a ball into the near post. Junior Phil Sandgren put a header on net, but it hit the post and stayed out.
Brown broke the deadlock in the 81st minute when Quinn English headed a pass to Zingas who was making a run into the box. Zingas collected the ball with no one in front of him and he found the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.
DeNormandie tied the match 41 seconds later as the Brown goal was still being announced. Pritchard controlled the ball on the right side and sent a short cross into the box. DeNormandie controlled it and beat the keeper for the equalizer.
Boston College had the best opportunity for either side in the overtime periods. Pritchard set up for a corner kick in the second overtime and found sophomore Isaac Normesinu at the far post with a man on him. Normesinu got a foot to it but the shot went high of the crossbar.
Both junior Alex Kapp and Brown keeper Mitch Kupstas were credited with three saves.
Boston College (4-4-3, 1-3-1 ACC) is back in action on Friday night when it travels to Wake Forest.
