Rubin Leads USA To Gold In 19th Maccabiah

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Rising senior Danny Rubin scored 25 points to lead the United States past Argentina, 87-76, in the gold medal match of the 19th Maccabiah Games in Jerusalem on July 29.
The United States team went 4-1 in pool play with its only loss coming in the opener against Argentina. Rubin broke out when he scored a game-high 22 points against Russia in the fourth game of Group A. He then scored 21 in the finale versus Guinea-Bissau.
The Americans drew Israel in the semifinals and came away with a 77-73 victory. Rubin scored 11 points in that game. A rematch against Argentina decided the gold medal, and the United States avenged its only loss with an 87-76 triumph. Rubin led the U.S. with 25 points.
The Chevy Chase, Md., product averaged 15.3 points per game during the tournament.
